Learn 13 Ways To Live Your Life As Happy As You Want to Be

Don't you want to live happy. To wake up smiling and happy with life.

Almost everyone has heard the hit single 'Don't Worry, Be Happy' by Bobby McFerrin.

I love the song because it has such a catchy way of conveying a perfect message of happiness and that happiness is a choice. Bobby Mcferiin's simple message surely made a lot of people just be happy. 

Living a happy, resilient, and optimistic life is wonderful. Its also good for your health. Being happy actually protects you from the stresses of life.

Sadly, stress is linked to some of the top causes of death such as heart disease, cancer and stroke. So here's to making every effort to being the happiest we can, no matter what life brings!

1. Become social and maintain great relationships

Social networks, friendships, and relationships are essential to happiness.You can live a happy life without a strong support network of friendships. Proverbs says, "The poor is disliked even by his neighbor, but the rich has many friends".
I use to think that had a lot to do with money. But perhaps its showing us that the rich has learned the wisdom of friendship and how to get along with people.
People are different, accept people for who or what they are, avoid clashes, constant arguments, and let go of all kinds of resentments. 

Learn to forgive. Forgiveness doesn't mean you have to be best buddies again. But it's releases you from the incident. 

2. Avoid arguments and being angry.

If you spend your life angry or checking everyone for their wrong, you will never be happy. If the argument seem unavoidable still try and make an effort to understand the situation and resolve it quickly. 

You might just get along. But sometimes you just have to agree to disagree. Its better to be happy than right. 

3. Find solace and happiness around you.  

Happiness is actually found in everyone, increasing it is a way to make your life more wonderful and also more healthy. It also makes people want to be around you and love you. Focus on what you like about family and friends. Don't focus on the negative. 

To be happy is relatively easy, just decide to be. 

Abraham Lincoln observed that most people for most of the time can choose how happy or stressed, how relaxed or troubled, how bright or dull their outlook is going to be. There's always an upside to every situation, chose to see it that way.

The choice is simple really, choosing to be happy. There are several ways by which you can do this. 

4. Be thankful and have a grateful attitude.

Being grateful is a great attitude. We have so much to be thankful for. 

Thank the Uber driver for bringing you home safely. Thank the cook for a wonderful meal. 

Thank the guy who cleans your car. Also thank the mailman for bringing you your mail, thank the policeman for making your place safe and thank God for being alive.

The more thankful you are the more happier you will become.

5. Cancel the news.

The news is stressful. Get less of it. Some people just can't start their day without their daily dose of news. 

Try and think about it, 99% of the news we hear or read is bad news. Starting the day with bad news or negative gossip, does not seem to be a sensible thing to do when your objective is happiness. 

So try to stay clear of it, especially early in the morning. You want happy thoughts at the beginning and ending of your day to be happiness. So that you can be very happy in your dream state. 

6. Get a spiritual connection 

A spiritual connection is also recommended. Being part of a spiritual group with its singing, sacraments, affirmations, prayers, and meditations foster inner peace. 

Knowing that God has your back and communicating daily helps to make life easier and happier.

7. Manage your time and take the time to do what you enjoy.

Time is invaluable and too important to waste. Time management can be viewed as a list of rules that involves scheduling, setting goals, planning, creating lists of things to do and prioritizing. 

These core basics should be develop so to make room for personal time management as well. Give yourself that extra reserve to make time for your goals and enjoyment. Take a couple of minutes or hours out of your day to do what you love the most.

Don't be so busy accomplishing the next thing, that you forget to celebrate and have fun. On the other hand, don't spend time having so much fun, you forget your goals. Make sure you include a balance. 

8. Laugh and laugh hard! 

Laugh, laugh, and laugh heartily everyday. Heard a good joke? Tell your friends or family about it.

 As they also say -'Laughter is the best medicine'. Even if you have to watch something funny get you a daily dose of laughter.

9. Don't suppress your feelings, express them. 

Express your feelings, affections, friendships, and passion to people around you.

They will most likely reciprocate your actions. Try not to keep pent up anger of frustrations, this is bad for your health. Instead find ways of expressing them in a way that will not cause more injury or hurt to anyone. Don't be hurtful, but its important to let others know when something bothers you.

If you can't express them to a person, write them down. Express them in pray, but whatever you do get it out of your system in a healthy way.

10. Engage in meaningful work and work it with passion. 

Working hard brings tremendous personal satisfaction. It gives a feeling of being competent in finishing tasks.

Accomplishments are necessary for all of us, they give us a sense of value. Work on things that you feel worthy of your time. 

11. Consistently learn a new skill.

Learning is a joyful exercise. Try and learn something new everyday. 

Learning also makes us expand and broaden our horizons. And could also give us more opportunities in the future. You should have hobbies that you enjoy learning and doing for fun.

12. Stay Active. 

Run, jog, walk and do other things that your body was made for. Feel alive.

13. Avoid negativity like its a contagious disease, because it is.  

Avoid exposure to negative elements like loud noises, music, people, information, toxins, and hazardous places.

14. Accept change and that change is inevitable. 

One of the better things ever said is - 'The only thing in life that will always remain the same is change'. Life is ever evolving nothing will remain forever. So accept that fact, be flexible,  and  willing to evolve with the times.

On the other hand, the great thing about change is in our life we have the power to make the necessary changes if we want to. Even if we find ourselves in an unbearable situation we can always find solace in the knowledge that it too would change. 

 These are the few simple things you can do everyday to be happy. Start putting them to practice and make happiness a choice. 

And always remember the quote from Abraham Lincoln, that says, "Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be."

Granted sometimes tips like these fall to the wayside when one suffers clinical depression or other mental health issues but for those of us who have the power to change our moods and uplift our lives - we need to take heed in your messages here!

  8. Great list. I actually became more happy when I let anger go and just deleted people out of my and physically. Not always can family make one happy, they can bring a person down so low that they think life is not worth going on. Once we find happiness and avoid those tragic evil people, life gets much better, much quicker.
